1) Local Government Finance Settlement
Councils across the East of England are faced with tough decisions about their local services and investments, and are working hard to make ends meet and maximise opportunities for investing in their local economies. The Local Government Finance Settlement this year comes at a time of profound change for councils and the country as a whole. This event is an important opportunity for elected members to consider the Settlement as it relates to the East of England, both individually and collectively. Members will be invited to explore how councils can work closer together to maximize their resources and overcome priority challenges such as the future funding of adult social care and Business Rates Retention. This briefing will be given by one of the senior financial advisers at the Local Government Association.
2) The Implications of Brexit
The East of England European Partnership has been working hard on behalf of local government since the referendum, helping councils to understand more about the implications of Brexit, including any potential financial impact on local and national economies. Through the European and International Panel, it liaises regularly with businesses, higher education, LEPs, universities, MEPs and other stakeholders to stay on top of this important issue and to advise councils accordingly. This briefing will be given by one of the senior policy officers at the East of England European Partnership.
This event is by invitation only
